Job responsibilities

"As a VMI software engineer I am responsible for the construction of tire manufacturing machinery. Once a Project Manager has sold a machine to a customer, I have to familiarize myself with the equipment and ascertain which options are included and commence preparatory software work followed by a test period on the shop floor.

Working with my laptop next to the machine to confirm that all systems are working correctly before supplying the electrical equipment with the configuration software, frequency and servo drives followed by a new extensive test phase. Finally the machinery is presented to the customer for acceptance which involves a number of tires being produced and meeting formulated specifications.

Usually these kind of projects can take up to two months during which time, especially at the acceptance stage, it can be stressful."
